TIPON

National Archaeological Park located at the east of the City of Cusco. It has a territory of 2,200 hectares approximately and it is in the district of Oropesa, Quispicanchis’ County. To arrive to the main archaeological monument there is a distance of 5 Kms. The road begins from kilometer 18 of the road Cusco-Puno, toward the north, crossing the stream of Watanay.

The original Quechua name of the park is still ignored. Diverse groups of Royal Rooms can be seen, that according to Victor Angles, were built by Inca Wiraqocha like a refuge from his father Yawar Wakaq, when he returned from the war against The Chancas.

This group of villages is on 3,500 m.a.s.l. (11,480 feet). there is also a great cultivation area that contains 12 very fertile terraces that are currently cultivated, and which walls were built with carved stones.
