RAQCHI

Continuing the route toward the east, in the Km. 125 of the highway to Puno, beside the river Vilcanota, we find the town of Raqchi. It belongs to the district of San Pedro , county of Canchis, and it is to a height of 3,500 mts. (11,500 feet). To the view their prehispanic name was "Cheek" and not "Raqchi."

The evidences indicate that Raqchi was a town of multiple constructions for diverse purposes, courts (apartments), wayranas (buildings that only have 3 walls), qolqas (you store), different urns, religious sources of water, etc. Possibly, was an important tambo in the route toward the Collasuyo.

The most important building inside the complex is the Temple of Wiraqocha that was built by the Inca Wiraqocha in homage to the invisible Superior God of Andean people according to the columnists: "Apu Kon Titi Wiraqocha."
